My Favorite Vegan and Cruelty-Free Makeup

Many of you have been asking for a list of my favorite vegan and cruelty-free makeup products. I’ve spent a lot of time finding all my fave beauty products and none of them are tested on animals OR contain animal products. Today’s post, I share with you my go-to, everyday vegan and cruelty-free makeup products I could not live without.

Let me just say, I l-o-v-e makeup. I love watching makeup videos on YouTube, searching for new vegan and cruelty-free makeup brands online (and in Sephora), and experimenting with new makeup finds. I actually went two years where my “makeup” of choice was coconut oil during my Master’s in Belgium. I still don’t wear makeup everyday – like on the weekends – you gotta let your skin BREATHE sometimes, but most days (let’s be honest!) I do.

As you already know if you’re on my blog, I’m vegan (meaning: I don’t consume anything that comes from an animal, and yes – that includes Fish – you’d be surprised how much I get asked that!). But being vegan for me is not just about the food (even though it is a lot about the food). It also means, I choose not to participate in purchasing leather, going to the zoo, AND buying cosmetics that were tested on animals or contain animal products. Can you believe that even dogs and cats are used in animal testing?

AND lucky for makeup addicts everywhere, there are SO many beautiful, high-quality vegan and cruelty-free makeup brands out there. Buying vegan makeup is fun and maybe even a little too easy (says that girl with basically has a subscription to Sephora, lol!).

Here are a few of my favorite vegan and cruelty-free makeup LOOKS. During the week at the office, I love a natural look and when going out I love an all out G-L-A-M look (because, why not?).

↑↑↑ My friend Samantha did my makeup above – she’s one of my dearest friends and a super talented Makeup Artist (her makeup look was recently featured in Vogue Italia). You can imagine how I almost fell off my chair when she told me she’s transitioning her makeup bag to ALL cruelty products. Can I get a h-e-l-l YAH?!

  1. Thanks for sharing your favourite vegan makeup products Ceara!

I love the look that Samantha created for you – you look gorgeous! She’s very talented.

I’m glad you included some vegan friendly lipsticks in this post. I hadn’t heard of Real Her before. The Kat Von D packaging is just gorgeous! I’m glad we have these alternatives, because the animal product ingredients used in generic lipsticks can be quite disgusting. Two of the most common are lanolin oil (sheep glands) and carmine (crushed bugs)!

Just for your readers who are unsure about lipstick ingredients, we recently posted a piece exposing some of the non-vegan and generally toxic ingredients that you may want to avoid:

Thanks again for the recommendations here – I’m defo going to check out Real Her.

    Laura.

  2. I think you have a “typo”. I believe you want a hyphen and the word, “Free” after “cruelty”, when describing Samantha’s transitioning her make-up bag to vegan products. You have a great blog, w/ terrific recipes. Thanks!
