If you are not into smoothies (yet!) then you have to try this one. It is creamy and satisfying with hints of vanilla and sweetness. This smoothie reminds me of drinking a fruity sorbet – without all the added sugar. It is the kind of smoothie that will get you hooked on smoothies in general without using any ‘funny’ ingredients. It will leave you feeling invigorated and energized – the perfect way to start off 2014 don’t ya think?
The past few weeks I have been home in Canada and it has been freezing here – even dropping below -30°C at some points! With this frigid weather, the holidays, and everything in between it is no surprise that tons of people around me are getting sick with winter colds. One of the biggest problems with winter and healthy eating is that – let’s get real – it is much harder to eat well during the wintertime. It is difficult to find good quality, organic fresh produce (especially in the great white north). That is why I use 100% frozen fruit in this smoothie – it not only makes this smoothie very creamy but also the fruit is much fresher than those pinkish/green strawberries we see in the grocery store this time of year. There is a common misconception that frozen fruit is not as good for you – but in fact, because the fruit is flash frozen once it is ideal for consumption – it contains all the nutrients that are often lost in the fruit that is picked way before it’s ripe and transported over long distances.
Being home has been a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I have spent great quality time with family, friends and loved ones who I have so dearly missed. My other half was also able to come home with me and we spent our first Christmas together on the same continent (here’s to all the international couples out there!). We ate (lots), drank (lots), went tobogganing, enjoyed being in Toronto and even went to see my favourite musical of all time Les Miserables. We even flew in during the ice storm and safely landed with hardly any delays — how is that for lucky?!
This holiday season and this past year have been unforgettable – I have grown so much as a person, achieved so many of my health goals, became a runner, started this food blog, moved across the world to be with the one I love, and started my Master’s. Here’s to another great, successful year – I am already dreaming up of the many feats I want to enjoy and accomplish this year. Here is to another year filled with happiness, health, and surrounded by the people we love.Let’s make this year our best!
I hinted at an amazing Baked Tomato Sandwich in my last post and I knew I had to share with you my favourite way to put this pesto to some serious good use in what might just be the easiest meal ever. This fantastic Open-Face Roasted Tomato Sandwich is crunchy, juicy, savory, slightly salty and tastes like the kind of lunch you would get on the terrace of…
It is 51 days until Christmas. And 46 days until I go home to Canada for the holidays. BAHH!! I can believe Halloween is over and that I already feel like rejoicing, setting up my Christmas tree, getting my Christmas baking on and getting out my Michael Bublé Christmas album. Too soon? How was your Halloween by…
Do you like buying food in bulk? J came back from a trip to Canada yesterday and my Family stocked him up with all my baking and cooking essentials from Costco and David’s Tea. I think that liking things in bulk is totally an American/Canadian thing. I just like knowing that I have chia seeds…
I hope you’re having a great week! I originally had planned to share a mashed potatoes recipe with you this week but then remembered the big day coming up. And mashed potatoes just aren’t that romantic, are they? I can’t believe I haven’t posted a recipe since last Monday but my thesis deadline is coming…
I’m home! Safe and sound – and it feels great to be back. I arrived in Toronto, early Saturday evening, after a long and turbulence-filled flight. I know it is harmless, but who else is not a fan of crazay turbulence on places? I honestly felt like I was on a roller coaster for a good…
How was your weekend? We took a trip to the Ardennes and enjoyed a relaxing weekend with J’s family in the woods near the villages of Durbuy and Barvaux. They are both two super adorable and quaint picturesque villages located in the French speaking part of Belgium. We went for a great hike, dined, drank…

I recently tried CBD gummies from this website https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/products/cbda-oil after the pre-eminent prematurely and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Initially skeptical, I initiate that it significantly helped with my dread and sleep issues without any noticeable side effects. The fuel was unoppressive to put to use, with legible dosage instructions. It had a indulgent, shameless liking that was not unpleasant. Within a week, I noticed a patent convalescence in my blanket well-being, hunch more relaxed and rested. I know the ingenuous technique to wellness CBD offers and procedure to at using it.

This looks delish! I love using frozen fruits in the winter time, especially in smoothies. Thank you!
